Hi, I’m Farah (she/her) and I'm a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, registered with the BACP, offering individual therapy and counselling sessions, spaces and workshops for adults, both face-to-face in London, outdoors and online.
My background includes publishing, mental health research and communications. Alongside practicing as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist I also work in Community and Culture for a young people's mental health charity.
As a south asian counsellor, the mental health and wellbeing of marginalised and minoritised individuals and communities is an area of my practice which I am especially passionate about. I recognise and have experienced the need for spaces and practitioners dedicated to and for folk from the global majority, and this is where A Space for You Counselling was born.
As well as being registered with the BACP and adhering to their ethics code, I am also a member of the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network which seeks to: 'address the inequality of access to appropriate psychological services', and actively engage in anti-oppressive and anti-racist supervision and training.
Farah (she/her), Head Counsellor & Founder
Our approach to counselling, psychotherapy and wider services is:
We draw on and blend together a number of approaches, responding to what you need and your preferences as an individual. This includes approaches such as person-centered, thinking about the here and now; psychodynamic, exploring the past to understand your present; as well as mindfulness-based behavioural exercises.
It can be difficult, at times, to find the words to express or begin exploring what's happening for us. Creativity, art-making and mindfulness-based activities in sessions and workshops are also used as a way to get in touch with your inner world.
Working collaboratively, finding the right blend of approaches which provide the space you need to speak your truth, discover the resources you have within yourself which enable change and empower you to live authentically, is at the heart of who we are.
Short and long-term one to one counselling and psychotherapy for Black, Brown, Asian and racialised individuals.
Available online, in person and outdoors.
Creative workshops offer a safe and holding space empowering folk to get creative, connect with themselves and be in community with others.
Group reflective spaces rooted in anti-oppressive practice for organisations.
